Messenger is one of the most popular messaging apps. Previously, users could access Messenger without a Facebook account. However, in 2019 this facility was removed. As a result, you now must have a Facebook account to set up a Messenger account. Don’t worry if you don’t use Facebook: there’s still a way to use Messenger without it.
To get Messenger without a Facebook account, you will still need to set up a Facebook account. However, once Messenger is installed, you can deactivate your Facebook account, and Messenger will continue to work.
1) To set up your Facebook account, go to Facebook.com and complete the section under Create a New Account. Don’t worry; you don’t need to set up a full-blown Facebook profile or add photos. Just include a few basic details then click the Sign-Up button.
2) Don’t forget that to use Messenger, first you’ll need to download the application from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS). Then activate the program and select the "Create a new account" option. Next, you only need to enter your phone number and create a password. At this point, you’ll be asked to enter your name, which will be visible to other users. You can also add your photo or avatar.
People from your address book who have Messenger installed will immediately appear on the list. That means you don't have to add contacts manually.
3) Once you have set up your Messenger account, you need to deactivate your Facebook account. To do this, click at the top right of any Facebook page. Click Settings then click Your Facebook Information in the left column. Next, click Deactivation and Deletion. Choose Deactivate Account, then click Continue to Account Deactivation and follow the instructions to confirm.
Messenger offers a lot of useful features, which makes it worth using. You can use it to share photos and videos with your friends. There’s also a facility for group chats as well as audio and video calls.
