Having a Google account on your smartphone is useful. For example, it lets you download and install apps from Google Play and synchronise contacts. If you don’t have a Google account on your phone, you’ll lose some of the phone’s capabilities. However, if you’ve decided you do want to remove a Google account from your phone, read our guide below.
If you want to delete a Google account without losing files follow these steps:
1. Open “Settings”.
2. Enter “Accounts”.
3. Select “Google”.
4. Choose which Google account you would like to delete.
5. Scroll to find the option “Delete”.
You may discover that the names of tabs and options are slightly different depending on which version of Android you have. The instructions above will work for a wide range of manufacturers, including Samsung, Huawei, Sony, HTC, LG, and Motorola with Android version 5.0 or higher.
Following the process set out above safely removes the selected Google account from your smartphone. You will still be able to access your Google account from another device.
