Who doesn’t love to use an emoji? They’ve changed the way we communicate every day and are a must-use when you’re messaging friends or family. If your phone isn’t showing them properly, you won’t get the whole message. To help, here’s what to do if your smartphone is not displaying emojis correctly.
If instead of a "smiley" you see squares in your messages, it means that your device probably does not support emoji. To check, open your web browser and enter the phrase "emoji" on Google. If you see squares instead of smilies in the search results, it means that your device does not have this function.
Your phone might support emoji, but your settings might be wrong. Check if the default keyboard selected in your phone settings can read emojis. To change the default keyboard, go to Settings >> System >> Language and input >> Default keyboard and choose another keyboard from the list.
If none of the keyboards that are installed in your phone support emoji, don’t worry. You can download a new keyboard that will display emoticons. Popular options to try include Gboard and SwiftKey.
